The 2014 Christmas Swag topic!; Admittedly, as we all get older, we do tend to get fewer presents... but we do still get them. Hopefully.

So, what did everyone get this year?

Almost all of our Holiday cash went to paying bills or buying presents for our son Henry, but my wife and I were able to sneak gifts to one another. I, through her own purchases, bought my wife a pair of cute boots and a calendar featuring our son throughout the year.
My wife, meanwhile, claimed she gave herself a budget of $50 and said "screw it" by getting me a 3DS XL, Super Smash Brothers edition. She was a little sad to find out it didn't come with the game, but she still loved the fact that I was overjoyed to have a large 3DS.

My in-laws wound up getting a few presents mixed up, so my son Henry got a Funko pop figurine of Stormfly from How to Train your Dragon and a Blu-Ray of the second movie... which was the wrong gift. So we got to open our "Santa" presents, which were supposed to be a surprise. My wife got a Funko pop Toothless, and a Blu-Ray of the first movie... and I got a University of Washington puffy football.
...which is a school team I detest, but my in-laws and wife adore.

I've honestly not laughed so hard on a Christmas in a long time.

Rounding out the present mix-up, my wife's birthday present was unwrapped 15 days early, accidentally disguised as one of Henry's presents: A 6-inch tall Funko pop Baymax. Awwwwww yeah.

We also got a ton of movie ticket vouchers and $50 for the Texas Roadhouse, which is also nice.

My godson gave me this charm bracelet, which was really cute. His mother gave me a Hello Kitty candy dish.

My dad's Christmas gift to me was getting my truck fixed, and mom gave me money. My sister will be baking me stuff as soon as she stop being sick.

My new boyfriend gave me some bodybutter and lotion, a small thing of perfume, and these awesome earrings that has my birth stone on them.

I got a hoodie from my roommates, and a jacket from one of my roomies' parents. Which helps a lot, I work produce and it gets fucking cold in that section. They also gave me 20 bucks and a nice food bowl. Also, my department manager randomly gave everyone on shift today five bucks.

Spending that 20 on a steam code and spent the five on some soda and chicken sandwiches on the way home.

And Rax got me a new kindle I'm waiting to come in, because he loves me so much for some reason. <3

Nothing much for me. My father gave me $40. May not be much to some but to me I'm more than happy with it.

Wow, everyone got a Kindle. I got a Kindle Fire HD too, not sure which exact model, and my parents went nuts and just spent tons of money. Apparently they decided not to take their vacation this year, which usually consists of motorhoming around the US. Instead, they had Super Christmas.

So I got the Kindle HD, $200 in cash and gift cards, some clothes and Archipelago. A buddy gave me a Steam gift card, I gave myself a copy of the Love Letter, and my girlfriend gave me Wiz-War, The Magicians and a pot. She also got herself Diplomacy, I gave her Agricola and her friend gave her Boss Monster. So between the two of us, we got six new tabletop games. Score!

From Mom's side of the family I got $45 (they never know what to get me so it's usually cash or giftcards).

From my immediate family I got:
-A couple of smart-ass T-shirts ("Dear Math, I'm not a therapist so solve your own problems" and "Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batman, then always be Batman."
-A Garmin GPS
-Mel Brooks movie collection (9 films)
-Airbrush set
-The complete Far Side collection
-Nyarko-San W Bluray set
-2TB hard drive

Dad's family's Christmas party is Sunday, I'll check back in then but don't expect anything amazing because we do Dirty Santa there.

Much of my intake came from residents where I work. As usual, the really nice art dealer and the lawyer who has me return 20 amazon packages for him per week both show their gratitude by throwing money at me.

My Christmas gift to myself was winning a bid war for an unopened NES copy of Final Fantasy 1. I managed to pay FAR LESS than what that usually goes for.

Are you keeping it as a novelty to put on a shelf, or are you going to open it and destroy its value for the sheer pleasure of ruining something pristine? >_>

Both options sound so tantalizing, don't they?

Actually, the plastic warpping towards the right of the box is already a bit torn open, so the game probably wouldn't be worth a full $400-$500 like it usually goes for. So, I figured it wouldn't hurt to open up the box once, play the game once, and then seal it up forever afterwards. I really do want to play FF1 on the original cart at least one time rather than on a rom, a download on a modern system, or one of the remakes. I own every localized physical copy iteration of FF1 now and I just want to be able to say to myself I have a completed save file on all of them.

But like I said, I paid nowhere near $400. It seems like the seller just wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible, possibly due to the torn wrapping. However, if I did pay that much (which I wouldn't unless I was rich), then I probably would have never opened it, built a shelf for the game, and adorned it with gold or something like that.

I unwrapped the stuff I bought myself.

My parents got me Guardians of the Galaxy on Blu Ray, the soundtrack, and $25 in xbox points that I used today to buy Sunset Overdrive.

Dirty Santa?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_elephant_gift_exchange

Short version: Instead of specific gifts everyone gets ones that a number of people might like and puts them in a pool. Everyone draws numbers and takes turns picking a present or "stealing" a present that someone else has claimed. My Dad's side of the family does it because it's so large that giving individual presents would be insanely expensive (but most of us still do it, at least for the younger family members).

I should just copy and paste my rant from last year about the giving and receiving of cologne as a gift.

Because that's what I got again, proving all points made are still valid!

I got an Iron Kingdoms GM Kit, two Doomtown Reloaded base sets, the two Doomtown expansions, Sins of a Solar Empire which is apparently a good strategy game, a Cygnar Token set, and some Cygnar dice. My grilfriend bought me a bust of the Iron Man Mk II armour, a POP! Bobbleheadof Rocket Racoon, some cookies and soap.

Woo.

Almost as good as Lowe ^_^
We had a really low key Xmas this year, but we did end up buying a PS4, wasn't planning on picking one up yet, but Mrs Quattro got a bonus that had to be spent on electronics so we can't complain on paying next to nothing for the PS4. And as usual they had the Canadian holiday bundle where the console comes with NHL 15.

I did get my usual gift of beer from one of my friends, can never complain about getting beer.
